Indeed, Fall is the most wonderful time of the year….for television viewing!  The return of the both the NFL and NHL, baseball playoffs just around the corner and of course the launch of a basket full of new Prime Time series.  In Canada, CTV (Bell Media) dominates the primetime schedule with 15 out of the top 20 programmes on their roster.  Each year Global and Rogers continue to battle for increase in share among the top 20.

Every year, we screen about twenty new programmes in May for launch in the Fall. Last year we had our eye’s on Quantico, Blind Spot and Code Black.

This year we are keeping our eyes on, and recommending to clients, these broadcast gems:

CTV – Designated Survivor

Kiefer Sutherland, (OK you had us at Kiefer!) returns to primetime in a conspiracy thriller as Tom Kirkman, a lower cabinet member who unexpectedly becomes president after a devastating attack on the Capital building during the State of the Nation address.  Thrust into this role, he will struggle to prevent both the country and his family from falling into chaos.

CTV – Training Daytrainingday1

From uber executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer, this series picks up 15 years after the original movie in modern day Los Angeles.  A rookie cop is bumped up to detective in the elite Special Investigation Section, a unit that goes after the worst of the worst and tasked by the Deputy Chief (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) to expose the corruption of his veteran partner Frank Rourke (Bill Paxton).

Global – Kevin Can Waitkevincanwait4

Everyone’s favourite underdog Kevin James (Hitch) stars as Kevin Gable, a newly retired police officer who looks forward to spending more quality time with his wife and three kids – only to discover he faces much tougher challenges at home than he ever did on the streets!

Global – Timelesstimeless2

Is a new sci-fi drama that follows unlikely heroes (Abigail Spencer, you will recognise her when you see her) into the adventure of their lives.  Chasing a mysterious group of criminals through time, and encountering some of the most seminal moments in history, they attempt to thwart a dark conspiracy that is a threat to all of humanity and protect history as we know it.

Other notables include;  The Blacklist : Redemption which follows undercover operative Tom Keen and the shadow world of governments and corporations, also stars Famke Jansen as Susan “Scottie” Hargrave.  Also, under the category of “it’s only a matter of time”  the classic action-adventure series MacGyver is back!  We ask, who does not want to see a modern day millennial, macgyver (that’s the verb, not the noun) his way out of a jam with nothing more than bubble gum and a paper clip!!

The fall, does it get any better than this?  Happy viewing!
