Well let’s be frank, as a parent do we truly understand teenagers?  Our parents did not and it’s likely we struggle as well!  From a communications standpoint they most definitely live online.

It’s a fine edged sword for marketers to tactfully engage them without appearing too overtly brand centric.

For the 15 – 19 age groups being “connected” is as vital as oxygen to support their “life.”

  • 70% use a social network every week to connect to their 300+ network of friends.
  • 65% use social media for entertainment.
  • 30% use social media to communicate with brands and 50% of this group has had a physical experience with the brand.

This group has grown up in a digital world, where everything is instant access and rateable. Clearly an excellent “space” to strengthen brand ties!  Just make sure you listen and respond.
